Research

I have two major research areas. The first research area aims to understand children’s social-emotional development within the family context. To this end, I have examined parental emotion-socialization behaviors, children’s attachment relationships with mothers and fathers, and sociocultural factors (e.g., socioeconomic status, immigration status, and religion) and their influence on child development. I use both qualitative and quantitative methods and include multiple informants (mothers, fathers, and children) in my research. The second research area is related to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), specifically in areas of incorporating diversity into the teaching of psychology, both in-person and online.
